Nightwear Regulations in the UK
Nightwear (Safety) Regulations 1985
The Nightwear (Safety) Regulations 1985 are UK Legislation. They impose a legal requirement for all products falling within scope of the regulations.
Background
Regulations relating to flammability of clothing have been in force in the UK since 1987.
Scope
This includes all items of nightwear sold in the UK intended for children, together with Baby's garments and nightwear intended for certain adults.
BS EN 14878:2007 Burning Behavior of Children's Nightwear - Specification
BS EN 14878:2007 is a voluntary standard but includes certain clauses which are more onerous than the Nightwear (Safety) Regulations 1985, and some requirements are different in detail. As children's nightwear in the UK must also comply with General Product Safety Regulations, BS EN 14878 should be taken into account. Further information can be found on our BS EN 14878:2007 page.
